For many years, Club Natació Barcelona has been firmly committed to adapted and inclusive sports, seeking the best alternatives for any person with functional diversity who wishes to enjoy the aquatic environment. In 2023, the adapted swimming section celebrated its 30th anniversary. During the 1990s and 2000s, athletes such as Sílvia Vives and Esther Eroles proudly represented the club’s colors and are still linked to the Club as members. In 2008, during the Beijing Olympics, it was a landmark year for the Club, contributing up to six athletes to the Paralympic team.

Since then, the Club has continuously worked to support adapted sports, with athletes from all sports federations: FCEDF, FECPC, and FCECS, participating in various Catalan League events and both Catalan and Spanish championships.

In its ongoing effort to promote adapted swimming, CNB has, for the past six years, co-organized the International Adapted Swimming Trophy together with FECPC and, since 2024, has been the host of the Barcelona World Para Swimming Series — the most significant Paralympic sports event organized in Spain since the Barcelona '92 Paralympic Games.

Currently, the adapted swimming team has more than 25 licensed athletes and is the reigning Catalan Team Champion and National Runner-up.

In 2022, Club Natació Barcelona took a further step by playing a key role in the creation and development of adapted water polo. This discipline was created with the goal of developing and promoting water polo as an inclusive sport, where people with and without disabilities, of any age and gender, can enjoy a team sport that serves as a unifying and rehabilitative activity.

At present, there is an established set of rules and a classification system underway to categorize the different athletes.

A regular competition and trophy system also exists, allowing for an annual calendar to be set for various teams.

Currently, Club Natació Barcelona has a competitive team with more than 20 active athletes holding federation licenses, both from the Catalan Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities and the Catalan Federation for People with Cerebral Palsy.
